Puppy Training
Dallas-Fort Worth
The first few months of your puppy’s life lay the foundation for the dog they’ll become, which is why starting training early can make all the difference. At Captivating K9s, our puppy training programs are designed around your puppy’s age, developmental stage, and individual needs, ensuring they learn the right skills at the right time. We have years of experience leading puppy classes, and can help you build a good obedience foundation and raise a confident, resilient, well-mannered dog that understands how to succeed in everyday life.
We work to prevent common behavior problems before they become lifelong habits. We offer:
-
potty training
-
crate training
-
confidence building
-
socialization
-
leash skills
-
impulse control
-
household manners
Development stages
We offer various options, because every puppy is different. Even at the same age, one puppy may be more fearful or reactive, while others may be bouncy and energetic. Focusing on your dog's specific needs is imperative! Different puppies will have different goals and expectations, and we will always personalize your training program to your dog.
Results of following programs vary based on your dog, their issues and your goals. We will always involve you in the training process and teach you how to continue progress with your puppy.
A Whole New World (2-5 Months)
At this age the priority is relationship building, confidence building, socialization, and building solid habits and routines like crate training and potty training.
-
Private Lessons: We will teach you how to set up the right habits and routines from the beginning.
-
Day & Train: We will spend the day at your home working on things like crate training, obedience foundations, and socialization, then go over everything in a lesson! We will still teach you everything, but we will also do some of the repetitions for you.
-
Board & Train: This program can be helpful if you need extra help setting the right foundation and don't want to deal with working through annoying puppy behaviors. This can be a great option for puppies showing early signs of fear or reactivity.
Preteen Pups (5-8 Months)
Now your puppy is starting to understand how things work at home. They may start testing boundaries more, and larger issues may appear. It is important to continue socialization and confidence building as well as start introducing more obedience and settling.
-
Private Lessons: Great for owners who feel fairly confident in their handling skills and just need some extra insight or help working through this age.
-
Day & Train: We will spend the day with your dog focusing on building better habits and manners in your home. We will focus on leash walking, basic obedience, and whatever minor behavior challenges you are facing. This is a great program if you need a little extra help.
-
Board & Train: Great for owners struggling with energetic puppies or needing to address emerging behavior issues.
Full Adolescence (9-12 months)
Your puppy is starting to get bigger, stronger, more defiant, and behavior issues may be getting worse. Don't be fooled- your dog is still very much a puppy. Many issues at this age come from a lack of consistency or structure at home, simple development, or hormones spiking.
-
Private Lessons: Great for owners who feel fairly confident in their handling skills and just need some extra insight or help working through this age.
-
Day & Train: We will spend a day with your dog to help them focus on being calm and behaved at home and in public. We will also teach leash skills, obedience, and will address minor behavior issues.
-
Board & Train: Great for owners struggling with 'out of control' dogs or with bigger behavior issues.
