Captivating K9s was founded by Sadler Bass and Melissa Gardner after years of working together as professional dog trainers at a busy training facility in the Dallas–Fort Worth area. Together, we worked with hundreds of dogs, from young puppies to severe behavior cases, and gained experience with a wide variety of breeds, personalities, and training goals. While we loved helping dogs and their owners, we knew we wanted to create something that reflected our own philosophy and allowed us to provide a more personalized experience.

Today, Captivating K9s is built around the belief that great training is about more than teaching obedience...it’s about creating a better life for both ends of the leash. We want dogs to be able to enjoy as much freedom as possible, and we believe that freedom comes from clear communication, trust, consistency, and teaching dogs how to make good choices. Every training plan is tailored to the individual dog, their family, and the life they’re meant to live.

We’re passionate about helping owners truly understand their dogs instead of simply managing unwanted behaviors. Whether we’re working with a fearful rescue, a high-drive working breed, or a brand new puppy, our goal is to build confidence, improve communication, and create practical skills that make everyday life easier and more enjoyable.

There are few things more rewarding than watching an owner regain confidence, seeing a dog become calmer and happier, or helping a family enjoy experiences they never thought were possible. That’s why we started Captivating K9s, and it’s what continues to drive us every day.
